i made a customer cry today…
a guy came in today to have some copies made of a flyer. his baby son was born prematurely, and with a heart defect, and they were hoping for donations to help pay for another heart surgery. reading the paper nearly broke my heart… the baby was born on july 3rd, and his name was cody. my son was also born on july 3rd. i was about to cry while making his copies just thinking about how blessed we were with my son. he was also born six weeks prematurely, but other than seven days in the hospital, he suffered no health problems.
i brought the copies back to the gentleman, and he pulled out his wallet to pay with his credit card. i shook my head no, and told him “good luck and merry christmas”… he choked up and big ole tears started rolling down his face as he thanked me. i had to run to the back because i didn’t want him to see me sobbing. tears of gratitude for my son’s health, tears of pain for what that baby’s family must be going through, and tears of happiness that by doing such a small deed i was able to touch someone else who was hurting.

This is just beautiful.

Our second son spent the first ten days of his life in a neo-natal icu. He is now a six foot strappling son of a gun who plays ice hockey against ex-Marines. We have so much to be thankful for. …so it should come as no surprise to you that I am joining you “in the back”. Thank you for touching this man and his family and for touching us.

Beautiful story. My daughter was also born prematurely by 6 weeks. She received a little oxygen, was 4.5 pounds and left the hospital on time. That was 16 years ago. She is now a beautiful healthy, 5′11″ young lady.

This is what Christmas is about, not how much something cost, it is the kindness shown toward others, whether it is family, friends, or even strangers, what you did was beautiful.

This is what life should be each and every day, well beyond Christmas. That simple gesture will be far-reaching for you in so many ways that you may never know!

That’s the spirit of Christmas - we should all strive to do that year around. Good job and Merry Christmas - hug your son.
